Introduction to New Zealand Culture

Do you know anything about New Zealand? What usually comes to your mind when you think of New Zealand? Probably most people will think of birds such as kiwi, tui, and the extinct moa. The moa was once the biggest bird in the world. Click here to see how big a moa is in comparison to a human being. How about New Zealand parrots such as kaka, kea, kakapo? Kea are very curious birds and sometimes cause some damage. Click here to see a kea in action on YouTube.

Probably you will think of other animals, too, such as sheep, oppossums, llama, alpaca, dolphins. Native plants, flowers, trees such as pohutukawa, kauri, manuka, etc. How about things found in the earth: greenstone, mud, natural water, gold, etc.
